Jan. 3rd, 2015 01:06 amSo I have Crunchyroll now. What should I watch?
Here's a sample of what I like from the past, so you can get an idea of what I like:
Speed Racer/Machi Go-Go
Ultraman
Star Blazers/Yamato
Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman
Robotech/Macross/Southern Cross/Mospeada
Power Rangers/Super Sentai Series
Urusei Yatsura
Dirty Pair
Orguss
Orange Road
Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken
Ranma 1/2
Akira
Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Kiki's Delivery Service
Magical Taruroot
Digimon
Pokemon
Risky/Safety
Cowboy Bebop
The Big O
Outlaw Star
Haibane Renmei
Wandering Son
Tenchi Muyo
I, Me, Mine, Strawberry Eggs
Pet Girl of Sakura Hall
Blows my mind that you can Just Get Anime now. Back when I first really got into anime fandoms, we were having to trade VHSes with pen pals in Japan and each other. (But we got to see the Japanese commercials!)

Date: 2015-01-03 01:27 pm (UTC)Aldnoah.zero is a good, new mecha series. The first half (season 1) aired in 2014, and the second half / second season starts this month - so you can watch it week by week with the rest of us.
Angel Beats: Needed to be 24 episodes - but still a good visual novel conversion to anime
AnoHana: Very popular drama/slice-of-life
Aiura: Very short but hilarious episodes
AKB0048: Totally silly concept - singing idols in space - but I loved the series
Bakemonogatari: Modern classic & extremely popular – one of the best shows from studio Shaft. I love this series, but it’s not for everyone. There are a number of sequels also at Crunchyroll.
Bodacious Space Pirates: Fairly entertaining adventure story
Cardcaptor Sakura: Classic great series; hugely popular
Denki-gai: Frequently funny, occasionally touching, sometimes dumb comedy with lots of anime/manga in-jokes
Durarara: Another popular series - quite well done.
Engaged to the Unidentified: I liked this romance/comedy about aliens among us
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet: Well done and very popular SF/mecha alien-among-us show.
Gintama: I put this on here because it is a highly popular farcical comedy, but I’ve watched only a couple of episodes. Either you like it or you don’t.
Girls und Panzer: Another totally silly concept, but I loved the show.
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere: It takes a little work to understand the story... and I confess to cheating and going to Wikipedia... but I really like the ensemble of this SF/fantasy adventure/romance/comedy.
Inu X Boku Secret Service: Awesome. Loved it.
Kids on the Slope: Return (after a long hiatus) of director Shinichirō Watanabe, the director of Macross Plus and Cowboy Bebop. It’s no Bebop. But fans of Watanabe flocked to this show.
Kokoro Connect: Notable mainly for a little bit of cross-gender body switching. A well-done fantasy show.
Little Witch Academia: Just one episode - short film. So awesome I joined the Kickstarter for Little Witch Academia 2.
Log Horizon: MMORPG series worth checking out.
Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun: Comedy that skewers the standard anime romance tropes.
Mushi-shi: Gorgeous, eerie supernatural-type series. Episodic, so you can watch the episodes out of order if you want. If you like Twilight Zone, you’ll probably like this.
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU: I liked this high-school romance/comedy
Naruto & Naruto Shippuden: Even I’m a fan of the little ninja that could. Classic shonen adventure series. Hundreds of episodes. As long as I’m at Naruto, I’m obligated to mention Bleach and One Piece. This is basically the triumvirate of long-running shonen adventure series... if you like one, you might like them all. One Piece is said to be the best of the three.
Nisekoi: Romantic comedy beautifully rendered by studio Shaft.
No Game No Life: I thought this was a highly entertaining fantasy/adventure series. Don’t know when season 2 will happen.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: My #1 favorite anime series. Studio Shaft again. You have to give it the Three Episode Trial.
Rurouni Kenshin: Omigosh! I didn’t know Kenshin was here! A classic series featuring the most popular samurai in anime.
Shamanic Princess: Another old-school classic I didn’t know was here.
Sword Art Online: Another MMORPG anime... very popular in many circles. I’m not a huge fan, but I’ve watched all the episodes. Asuna is my girl.
Time of Eve: An intelligent work of art and love (I mean, the artistic anime was built from love - not that the story is about art and love) - just a few episodes. I supported a Kickstarter project for this series also.
Toradora: Popular romantic comedy.
Trinity Seven: I thought this was an entertaining fantasy series... needs a second season, though.
Eh. That should be plenty to get you started. And there are tons of other series at Crunchyroll that are entertaining – and that you might like better than these.

Date: 2015-01-03 01:59 pm (UTC)Kill la Kill: Outrageous over-the-top action/adventure. Brought to you by the same people that created the outrageous over-the-top classic Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Gurren Lagann is also available at Crunchyroll). Filled with anime in-jokes too fast and too subtle to follow.

Date: 2015-01-15 06:59 am (UTC)This is a heart pulling story of a young boy who was very Fem like and got picked on for it all the time then one day gets killed by a spaceship. The Aliens on the ship reanimate "him" but are confused with gender so they mistakenly change "him" into a female. it later turns into a very cute love story. If you are anything like me you will cry like a baby 90% of the Anime.
