*sigh* Mmm, it happens.. but it's no less tragic. (You might want to seek out the Mullein Fields archive, especially if you're a fan of Pogo-like humor and artwork. One recurring theme is that of "development")
There's a medium-sized woods near me, which has been whittled away over the past decade or so. Sad enough by itself, but when the outcome is just a load of McMansions.. =:P It doesn't help that the footpath running through has quite obviously been kept to some kind of legal minimum width, so walking through there reminds me of the Death Star's demise, heading through that narrow channel, no deviation possible.
Still, at least it isn't much further until you actually hit open land.
(And yet, I yearn to return to a particular city? Ah well. What would people be if they were consistent? =:)
