A year or so back, I watched a documentary series on the first attempt to legalise pot in.. Denver, I think. Actually rather well done, as it tried not to editorialise too much, and was happy to have a local cop of some rank describe why he opposed the proposition. *sigh* It failed the first time, but passed second time around - and as everywhere else, societies have not yet fallen, nor are schools now overwhelmed by stoned students.
I've been known to enjoy the herb on occasion, though only when in the Bay, where it's pretty much the locally patriotic thing to do. =:)
