I've yet to see a refund on this laptop. And I doubt I ever will. I'm not the only one to be swindled by this guy: http://www.newegg.com/American-EMG

Never buying form Newegg again. Hell, this has put me off resellers period.

Urgh, sorry to hear this has been such a pain for you. I hope Newegg will step in and sort you out.

It's a bit late now, but i really wouldn't recommend getting a refurb anyway to be honest. In my opinion the "refurb tax" you pay for warranty etc is not worth it when brand new laptops are so cheap these days. Second-hand only really makes sense to me if it is gifted or an in-person (craigslist) sale for peanuts. If you really need Intel Core series and not an Atom (though even my 8" tablet can handle "Core only" pro-audio software) you can get a crapware-free Inspiron from Microsoft for under $350 right now - http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Dell-Inspiron-15-i3543-2501BLK-Signature-Edition-Laptop/productID.316334000

In any case, let me know if Newegg don't come through with the refund and i can send through a Christmas in July donation :)

I wasn't keen on a refurb, pesonally, for mostly the same reasons you mention. But I kind of needed it in haste. In the end, i've wated more time and money than if I'd just waited a little longer to save up more money to buy a new one. Won't be making that mistake again....

Surely Newegg can, if they choose, set things right? I'd certainly try sending them a message - or even a physical letter, to the CEO - describing the wretched situation, and hammer home the point that this isn't something you can just laugh off financially. They really ought refund you and take up the matter themselves, maybe even adding something for the inconvenience.

I've been in back and forth with them for two weeks. The upside is, they're very responsive. The downside is, it's the reseller who is sandbagging everything.
