::dizzy with the multiple-windowosity::

Wow, you really do multitask. If I tried to run that amount of stuff on my computer at once, it would cry.

Gotta love the old-school e-mail client... check out what I had open just as I was checking out your post: http://members.nova.org/~pmisisco/screen1.jpg

A good friend of mine used to multitask the exact same way on a 17" monitor... He got sick of having to page between windows, and dropped a chunk of change on Apple's 31" cinema display. It's sick. The first time I went over there to gawk at it, he had open a Final Cut Pro session, a Firefox browser window, and an AIM chat window -- all taking up their own bit of real estate, and all roughly the same size they would be, maximized, on the old 17 incher. Unreal.

Maximized windows are evil! My monitor is a 14" CRT i got for practically nothing and all my windows are quarter-screen or so, stacked up in "cascade" style. It drives me nuts when i can't see what's going on behind the current window. Let's put together a little screen shot to share...

Agreed. My screen at work (pictured above) is a 15" flat-panel. It usually is quite a bit more cluttered, but i've been working away from my desk this week. At home, I've got the 17" widescreen iMac - at the bizarre screen size of 1440 x 900. Allows for things to be a bit more spread out, but there's still some stacking involved.

Case in point: http://members.nova.org/~pmisisco/screen_2.jpg

Perhaps it's the voyeur in me coming out, but I really dig checking out other people's desktops.

At home i usually have MSN and TreePad open too, but that was a 7:30am photo after all. But now you're asking for it ;-) Work desktop: http://alison.chaosnet.org/stuff/desktop2.png

Heeee. :) I've been using Pine for EMail since the day I got on the net at my University. I've tried other programs like Outlook and Eudora...but I always liked Pine the best.

Then I found out they make a PC Version of PINE. It doesn't display graphics, doesn't launch popups and doesn't run programs. I haven't looked back. :)

You betcha! I've even got my terminal software here configured with a black and amber screen - reminds me of checking my mail on the old WYSE terminals at my college's library. Of course, I've got to keep a modern mail client too - went from Eudora (which I never liked) to PocoMail (which I liked a lot) to Mozilla Thunderbird (which I love). To this day, I've managed to stay away from Outlook...

And I thought *I* multitasked~ XD Damn! Course, most of the stuff there I'd be running in my system tray :x And I use Mozilla, so I don't have 30843028403248032840328432 browser windows open. And recently I've upgraded to Trillian 3 so I have tabbed IMs too XD that helps some.
