As of today, I not longer owe any of the medical bills I've been paying since 2010. Not because I could pay them off. Because my parents did.

This frees up maybe $5 to $10 a month - which doesn't sound like much - but is $5 to $10 more than I had before.

Single Payer Healthcare would have taken care of this easily and cheaply.

Indeed. It never ceases to amaze me how current day Republicans consider easier access to healthcare, in any form, to be evil. I imagine single payer will arrive eventually, but long after the rest of the world's enjoyed it. (But then, it's in conservative blood - in the UK, they're doing all they can to sell off and privatise what they can of the NHS. By some inexplicable, strange coincidence, many of those decision makers have substantial shareholdings in the lucky corporate beneficiaries)

Have you contemplated emigration? Not an easy matter at all, of course - no country makes immigration easy (other than through marriage, or large investment), though Australia and Canada are a bit better than most.

I was an Almost Canadian once. I regret not following through with it.
