What's a Russian mushroom pie? (From a dietary perspective, I'm always wary of anything suggesting pastry, and pesto can be quite dangerous too. Thankfully, the tiny jar of pistachio pesto I noticed on Saturday was rather expensive, so I merely filed it away as a potential celebratory purchase =:)
Reminds me, I've got some pork loin in the freezer - I should really use that up. And something either mustardy or mushroomy (or both!) would be ideal. =:9
Sadly, nothing I have for LJ makes uploading photos easy. Which is why I tend to do it elsewhere. I'll take a pic of lunch for you when I get to work. :)
Ahh! Okay, much as the name implies! And rather delicious looking. =:9 I'm no vegetarian, but if all meat vanished tomorrow, I'd be pretty happy with a good assortment of mushrooms.. shiitake are just heavenly, and fairly easy to find. I would like to play with ones like trumpet and other more exotic varieties, but I get the feeling I'd really need to find dishes where they could really sing, not just be stuck in the choir, as it were.
FWIW, I just use Imgur for most of my imagery, other than the rabbiteering and more "serious" photography, which winds up on Flickr, sometimes 500px. Then, adding them to an entry, and having the text flow around, is just a matter of adding:
style="float:right;padding:8px"
to the img tag. Of course, change right to left, per preference, similarly the padding. I always use an 8px padding in my entries, fwiw - feels like a comfortable margin, without looking overtly like one.
I admit, I'm a sucker for food photos, especially taken with care, and even moreso if I start wishing I could teleport the dish here. =:) I've found the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 to be rather a good food lens - at max aperture, you get that fabulously slender DoF, or stop down a little for greater coverage of the deliciousness, whilst still not requiring any more light than a restaurant or gastropub will offer.
One of the reasons I don't post pics on LJ is most of my pics are uploaded via phones. There was a nice client that made pics really easy to upload (literally, just click and post), that client no longer works. Most other clients require text editing which I'm not a fan of, because I'm just doing a quick upload, versus something that requires HTML editing....
