May. 19th, 2016 01:52 pmIn the Doctor Who episode "The Aztecs" that's a character named Autloc who has a crisis of faith.
All his life, he's lived the Aztec way as high priest, but then a reborn goddess, Ytaxa convinces him that everything he knows about his religion and it's human sacrifices is wrong. He believes in her, especially once he sees the main sacrificer try to kill Ytaxa. He begins to feel, more and more, that the Aztec way is wrong.
Then his reborn God is outed as Barbara, one of the Doctors companions, lying as often as possible to convince him and the executioner that sacrifices are wrong because she finds them horrendous.
Sadly, so does Autloc. He's seen the executioners trying to kill Barbara and Ian, has become convinced the sacrifices are wrong, and doesn't just lose his faith in Ytaxa but in his religion as well.
He gives away all of his property to an old woman, and walks into the woods to try and find something to believe in again.
I'm about ready to walk into the woods.
