While on the subject of wierd sky stuff, I used to hear these "strange sounds from the sky" all the time at my parents house. I just chalked it up to living next to a concrete plant, and the flight path to the Kelly and Lackland Air Force Bases runways and a large power junction transformer thing. Honestly, I still chalk it up to one of those as I've never heard them anywhere else I've lived. (Well, I still hear the occasional transformer explosion...assuming that's what those are).
