There's Vindia, which is a town a few hours walking distance (or an hour or so's cart ride) from Genevieve's dairy. This town is completely fictional. But when I decided to have a scene in a much bigger villiage...and found a historical town that fit perfectly...I kinda hesitated, because that town actually existed in history ("Argentoratum" still exists actually as Strasbourg).
Little worried that my story won't match history well enough to allow for a suspension of disbelief. I guess what I should do is just write the scene/story, and if the history doesn't mesh, just pretend it's a fictional city somewhere else.
