So, at the behest of another friend, I sat down and looked at everything I was covering with less enraged eyes than a few weeks ago. Apparently, my insurance pays absolutely no hospital stuff, which is why I got it in the first place. So, you know, I'm enraged again.

But hey, the Republicans will remind you of how much more free you are with such an embarrassment of riches in insurance choices, and how Obama's eaten into that diversity. /s (Not, of course, that I'm a huge fan of giving the insurers a captive audience, though the rates do seem a good bit better than I recall, at least as far as California's concerned - now merely hair-rising, not unfeasible. Plans with moderate access and usage of service seem to run $300-500/mo)

Not to be left out, the UK's Conservatives are busy trying to chip away at the NHS, hiving out services to their private cronies, closing the odd hospital. It remains to be seen what's next in store, given May's choice for Health Secretary is the very same culprit responsible for bringing junior doctors to the (highly unusual) point of strike action, over unmanageable hours.
