Weeellll.. more, really, a matter of the design being aware that the intended main input might vanish for any number of reasons, and to therefore have sensible fallback behavior. Ideally, of course, a device's behavior shouldn't even change if a network source goes down, unless it's genuinely way too complex to run locally - but it's perhaps unsurprising that what's now a Google nodule would strive to the contrary.
