At least the US has a very good chance of escaping its insanity, at least insofar as the carrot goes. The UK might well be stuck out on its own for decades, much to the delight of the EU's cretinous detractors, assuming May or someone gets to actually admit that, yes, departure will be a terrible drag on the economy for years to come. (And yet, to not commit economic suicide is deemed political suicide. Funny how that never comes up in terms of, say, frittering away £100b on HS2, or £200b on Trident's replacement, much like the multi-trillion dollar tab for Iraq/Afg/Yemen/etc never gets mentioned in polite society)
