dolari24 hours ago, I went to bed, worried, but confident, of a Clinton victory. Tonight, I go to bed knowing we have a Trump presidency.
I'm seeing a massive "damnatio memoriae" of Barack Obama coming...the repeal of ACA (however expensive it may be for me, it was a good thing), the scaling back of LGBT rights, the rise (or at least public expression of closeted) homophobia, sexism, xenophobia and the slow transformation of the Republic into an Oligarchy.
Many of my friends are scared. Many are even making "escape plans." Others are battening down the hatches, getting paperwork, filings and processes rolling before the hammer comes down on them. Some others are considering going full on insurgency.
I am going nowhere. I survived being transgender in deeply machismo-istic 90s South Texas. I survived being LGBT in the GW Bush administration also in Texas. I've fought hard and loudly for what I have today. For what WE have today.
I will continue to do so.
And I hope you do, too.
We will survive, and we will succeed.
