Ocarina of Time Players - can you take down Ganon with Biggoron Sword (other than the very last blow to the head that finishes the game)?

I swear I've done it before, and apparently stretched the final battle out for an extra ten minutes until I switched to the Master Sword as the last swipe of his tail.

I swear I'd managed to knock him down to the very end just using the Biggoron Sword.
