Not bad for the first day of job hunting - 7 resumes sent. Quite a few more graphic design jobs out there than I expected. some seem incredibly high end, asking for degrees, some are incredibly low end. The point is I put in for all of them, wether I'm qualified or not.
I have enough cash for another month of groceries, two if I stock up NOW. Rent is paid up to the end of September. Heaven help me.
You know...all us underpaid overworked webcomic artists should all gang up and form a commune in a derelict house around here. We'd become a force to reckon with, and in Austin, become City Council members in mere weeks.
Kamikaze Dim Sum - Saturday, Dean took me out for some Dim Sum as a birthday present. I for one had never had it and I wanted to see what all the hubbub was. We were on our way in, and before we even sat down, carts were converging on us. 10^-35 seconds later we were entirely surrounded by dim sum carts, all jockeying for a chance to get us to sample their wares, while an oriental woman wailed in her best Jewish Mother voice "YOUUUU WANT MISSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"
The food was good, and next time, I'll be mentally prepared for the Barrage of the First Ten Seconds of Dim Sum.
The joys of having friends who knew me pre-transition:
[03:42] neoeverknight: [Regarding this week's AWFW] her boobie is almost showing.. :D
[03:43] jenndolari: It's supposed to. :)
[03:43] neoeverknight: ohh..
[03:43] jenndolari: I actually thought about having all the mothers be topless, but there was no way I could show that and make it "casual."
[03:43] neoeverknight: yeah.. the top looks practical
[03:43] jenndolari: So I gave them super short tops. So they can breast feed the children without too much fuss.
[03:44] neoeverknight: right, makes sense too.. practical reasons since it's a more sensitive region as well
[03:44] jenndolari: You're telling me! :D
[03:44] neoeverknight: yeah I noticed in some of your pics you're sportin' a rack now.. :)
[03:44] jenndolari: Oh, hell yeah. :)
[03:44] neoeverknight: nice work..
[03:45] jenndolari: ::laugh::
[03:45] neoeverknight: I found an old OLD old pic of us.. waaay back in the day in your old house when Lonnie was hangin' with us
[03:45] neoeverknight: y'had that really cool room
[03:45] neoeverknight: and we were like checkin' out anime.. eatin' cup'o'noodles
[03:45] jenndolari: Oh, wow!
[03:45] jenndolari: Those were the days.
[03:46] neoeverknight: ahh.. I get a good giggle when I see how much younger I looked
[03:46] neoeverknight: *sigh*
[03:47] jenndolari: ::laugh::
[03:47] jenndolari: Pre-rack days. :)
[03:47] neoeverknight: pre-boobages
[03:47] jenndolari: BTW, to get totally disturbing - boobies are a LOT of fun. :D
[03:48] jenndolari: I highly recommend them.
Reverse Flash - Something I forgot about during the Convention was Emily and I talking about "Reverse Flash." I'm not exactly sure, but somehow we came up with a superhero that was the exact opposite of The Flash: Reverse Flash! He could only run super speedy backwards, and had that annoying "backing up truck beep." But then we decided if he was Reverse Flash, the opposite of Flash, no only could he only go backwards, and beep., but that he would super slow, too. Being the opposite and all. Guess you had to be there.
Start Trek Meal - I got an Email from my friend Mike at the con, wishing me a Happy Birthday and asking me if I'd checked my mail. Dutifully, I went to the PO Box to pick up some stuff, and found a package from him. Not only had he sent the Cat Girls Playing Pokemon print I'd liked, he sent his ORIGINAL for a piece he did with the Mysterious Cities of Gold characters...AND a full set of the Star Trek Happy Meal boxes from the first movie!!!! I'd just mentioned once that I happened to have one of those boxes WAY back when - and suddenly I'm sitting on all five. THANKS MIKE! ::hugs::
Crashing Conventions - I may not have succeeded in real life, but I did in a dream. Emily and I cause havoc at...something. We even befouled the video room by spray painting the TV black, and my trademarked "Elevators that are actually large rooms" dream showed back up.
To sleep, perchance to dream. Suzanne Vega this Friday. Wonder if she'd mind if I sketched the show?
Med'a was drawn just for you, Mr. You Know Who You are. ;) I almost named her Que'va JUST for you. :)

Date: 2005-08-07 10:44 pm (UTC)Other than Jenn, who is at the table in 101_0910?
Who are the seated trio in 101_0976?
Who is the person on the far left in 101_0981?
Finally, who is the woman in the left in 100_1244 (same woman as with the cherry in 100_1230)?
One of these days, I will be at a con with most or all of these people and hope to talk to them without having to embarrisingly ask names.

And don't worry, they make us all wear badges. :D
