I found twenty pages of script for the first real attempt at a Star Trek Movie (aka "The God Thing") from 1975.
It's funny how much of that is STILL in the final Motion Picture. Spock is still on Vulcan trying to purge his human half, the Enterprise is still being refit, and there is still a transporter accident (and a gruesome one at that).
The main difference is that V'Ger is replaced by a massive ship that people are percieving as God, and it's brain-washing people, and that the first attack on it is from a Starfleet vessel, not Klingons.
Apparently it was very different after this, but it's wierd to see the basis for TMP that far back.
