Quick update - the Jabber contact should be JENNDOLARI@JABBER.ORG. Turns out the only way Jabber clients could talk to me was via the Google servers ONLY.

And in other news Yahoo! Messenger really puts you through hell if you try remove or even just move contacts around. Back to Trillian for me....
