Feb. 5th, 2020 09:07 pmSo the computer is stable for now. Once I removed the video card, the system severely sped up. Maybe faster than before, in fact. The 2019 backup may finish in four days instead of the usual 5, and file transfer went through the roof.
As per the Blogosphere, everyone is pointing to a possibly bad power supply. I'll likely replace that with one a bit more beefy, put the old video card back and see how it works. If it continues to fail, replace the video card with an unused identical one I have for some reason.
I won't really REPLACE the computer - but I may end up doing so by replacing the bits and pieces that got hit witht he power spike.
