When Windows 10 came out, I fell in love with it. But it's REALLY starting to again take a lot of control away from me, again. Right now I have a wired local network in my room since it's small and faster than our WiFi when it gets congested, and for the life of me, I can't get Windows 10 to use it consistently.

I've got Windows HOSTS file to set "DIN-ETHERNET" to, say, 192. 168. 2. 123 . But my main is also available at "DIN" at our often congested WiFi network at 192. 168. 86. 234. Windows 10 will connect to the 2. 123 connection, then after about ten seconds of streaming, switch it over to 86.234.

Normally this isn't bad, but if I'm pulling an HD movie across the network and so are the roomies, things get buffery.

It used to work a few months ago, but then suddenly stopped. Probably with an update. All the solutions I've seen simply don't seem to work (altering HOST files, adding routes), and I need the WiFi on to get internet, since the wired network is not on the net.

At this point, I may just move my laptop back to ArchLinux if it keeps being a pain. I just need to local 192.168.2 traffic to go through the Ethernet to keep local stuff local....
