Nov. 14th, 2020 02:26 pmI've made the joke that in Texas I'm a left wing liberal, in Washington State, I'm a left leaning conservative and internationally I'm a fascist. Thing is, that's somewhat true.
One of the reasons I feel that all politics are local is that in Texas I'm considered a far left wing Austin liberal, but compared to most of my friends outside Texas (and especially internationally) I come across as a left-leaning conservative, or at least a very cautious liberal.
I do want a move to the left everywhere, but I'm very much into a "slow and steady wins the race" kind of transformation. Mainly because I feel rebounds will be just as harsh should a fast move in any direction.
I catch hell for it, but I do want the same things leftists want, just at a much slower pace than most want. And that probably has a lot to do growing politically away in a place where things were amazingly skewed in one direction.
I've only really realized that once I became aware of world news, about twenty years ago. And only recently realized that even I'm considered slow-moving in the last five years.
Not sure if I'm right, or your right, or who's right. But the goal is the same if not the pace.
