dolariSo, at the end of 2019, I took predictions for what would happen in 2020. Let's see how they panned out:
❌ - Larry Holderfield: "First female president, might be Pelosi, might be Warren..."
While it didn't happen in the election, we did get Kamala Harris for Veep. She's only a heartbeat away from the presidency. But since it didn't happen in 2020, we have to give it an ❌.
❌ - Larry Holderfield: "One of The Rolling Stones doesn’t make it to 2021."
Mick, Keith and Ronnie are all alive as of 2021, which is good as Keith Richards is the dreamer that dreams and should he pass away our universe as we know it will cease to exist.
✔️ - Natalie Rosen: "At least one wealthy white man will be revealed as a serial sexual assaulter."
As Samantha followed up: Also, the sun will rise in the east every day.
❌ - Darrell E. Manrique: "While everyone's eyes are on Scotland, Northern Ireland will quietly secede from the UK and join the Republic of Ireland."
Didn't happen. Yet.
✔️ - Darrell E. Manrique: "Scotland will keep making gradual moves toward independence, but won't finish by the end of the year."
I was thinking this would be an ❌ but apparently there was a big push towards independence in December based on rising covid numbers again. I think it'll happen eventually.
❌ - Jocelyn Gray: "I vote Giant Meteor 2020."
Maybe this year. Maybe this year....
❌ - Beth Nyquist: "8.0 earthquake in the PNW."
Been a lot of moving and shaking going on, though.
❓ - Adam Bitting: "I finally write the great American novel"
Well...did you?
❌ - Mel Hynes: "Trump will attempt to sneak through a bill declaring the Big Mac as the Official National Food
Not in 2020. He's still got ten days to do it before his term ends, though.
❌ - Samantha Joy: "45 will get reelected by electoral college, while losing the popular vote by an even larger and more humiliating number than last time, and I can't bring myself to think about what happens next."
Thankfully that didn't happen. THANK THE GODS THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. HOLY CRAP.
✔️ - Melanie MacQueen: "The Apocalypse will continue to roll forward while we all yell and point fingers at each other, and those who have the power to actually MOVE events will DO NOTHING. ...except take polls to see how everyone is reacting to the abject failure of their leaders. They'll do that."
I think we can all agree the apocalypse moved WAY forward in 2020, nothing was done about it, and there was a LOT of finger pointing.
