AWFW is all pencilled, and rather nice, I think.
There's been this lady calling our house. LEaves a message all the time, askign for "Shelly" to call her back. She never leaves a number, though, and she's been calling for a few months. I've been wanting to pick up the phone to tell her that the reason Shelly never makes it to the coffee house or what not is because she's calling a wrong number.
Anyways, someone calls and it kinda sounds like her on our machine going "Hello? Hello!" So I finally pick up the phone to tell her Shelly isn't here, and someone begins their "With MCI, you'll get cheaper long distance..." I tell her "I'm not interested" and go to hang up the phone...only to hear "YOU HAVE NO CHOICE! WE'RE MCI! WE'RE THE PHONE COMPANY! Now, you'll get cheaper long distance if."
I laughed at her, told her I wasn't interested, and hung up - you could hear her voice raised as I hung up.
Considering the lovely tactics used, I've asked Dean (who keeps up the phone bill) to make sure we weren't slammed.
Wow, the nerve of some telemarketers. :)

Date: 2005-10-14 03:39 pm (UTC)My dad said to the telemarketer, "He's not here right now... would you like to leave a message?" The telemarketer just paused (as it was obvious she heard me in the background), and just said she'd call back.

Telespammers...
Date: 2005-10-14 09:29 pm (UTC)In this case I would have insisted in speaking to the Supervisor and get that marketriod a little thing called "Customer Service Training" (I think it's possible that you've heard of it...).
Oh and absolutely make sure you weren't slammed. I'm not certain how the regulations work down South of 49 but I think that there are some pretty stiff penalties if a phone company gets caught doing that nowadays.
