I needed to install windows to decrypt a drive for backups, install firmware and (properly) play blu rays so I could navigate menus.
So I think what I'm going to do is do a proper reinstall of Windows on my laptop, and leave the PC as a Linux machine. I rarely use the laptop as anything more than a remote desktop to the PC as it is, and if I need Windows, it'll be there.
