Question for the Videophiles out there. So I have hundreds of DVDs (as well as VHSes). I tend to rip my DVDs to a hard drive, then take the physical discs and put them in spindles, throwing away the boxes. Saves a TON of room that way, since the discs stay in the spindles, and the files remain on a hard drive.

Now that I'm doing Blu Ray, should I do that? Are the discs more susceptable to damage than DVDs? The DVDs have survived in the spindles for some time (most only damaged because they were damaged before I did the spindle thing).

Since there's more data in the same space on the Blu Rays, I'm worried they may be more susceptable to damage than the DVDs. Should I keep the boxes and just find a storage solution for them? Or do the same: Put them in a rarely touched spindle and toss the boxes?
