I've always wanted this color hair (minus the horns, mind you). I remember talking with my mom years around 12 years old if she would dye my hair this color green. Now my mom, who was normally a hardass about my looks, said no.

"Of course she said no!" You say. "Why would she let a twelve year old color their hair green! It's Crazy!"

Well, mom was, once upon a time, a licensed cosmetologist, and still cuts hair for family and friends, and enjoys doing it. When she saw I wanted to dye my hair that shade green, she said no, not because it was a funky color but because "Your hair won't match your skin tone, and it'll look awful. How about a deep dark blue? Or maybe an eggplant?"

I was so upset I couldn't have green hair that it was years before I realized that she happily offered a twelve year old a blue or eggplant dye job. :)

Hmmmm....maybe a darker green?

Nahhhhh.............

Way back before I knew what anime was, I wanted blue hair like Max Sterling--I only read the Robotech novels and the occasional comic, and I think I only caught one episode of the show (they never put it in a sensible timeslot) but all I knew was that he had the coolest hair, AND he had glasses; which meant his sense of style was something I could aspire to. ^_^

:D

The reason I wanted the green hair was that Miriya had this gorgeous emerald green hair. It looked great on TV, but not in real life. You have to have a specific blanche skin tone to look good in it. Rather like this person:

Wow. *Good* cosplay. And that guy looks a lot like me in college, if I'd walked more and not eaten the french-fries-and-bleu-cheese special every day at lunch.

Ha I actully dyed my hair that color in 4th year of Univeristy. I ended up bleaching it out and dying it back to brown a few months later when I went to visit my grandmother but it was fun while it lasted

That second wig looks exactly like my green dyejob when I was in college. I'm sad I never got any pictures of it when it was completely dyed...

I contemplated figuring out how to dye my hair gray in the early 1990s; does that count?

My beard is doing a very nice job of turning gray on its own now; how about that?

Wow, I thought I recognized that dummy head. That's Katie's anime wig place thingie! Katie was my artist/co-writer for issues 101-126 of NHS. Wow, small world. Then again, how many places *are* there that do anime wigs?

It really IS a small world! And those are some amazingly great wigs! I've considered grabbing a Shippo one from her in red and making a Carrie manniquin with it.

Or buying that black Inuyasha wig and wearing it to the grocery store. :D

I would (almost) kill to have hair exactly like the light-green wig ... all long and gorgeous like that ...

but -

in a color that suited my Italian-heritage, olive-green skin tone. What color hair would work for me, I wonder?

I discovered long ago (the hard way) during my Rocky Horror years that I don't wear white face-makeup (I'm sure there's a word for this product) very well unless I cover all visible flesh with it. Nor could I do the ruby-red lipstick that is so de rigueur. I was dismayed. It was also (more or less) the last time I wore makeup except for photo-ops.
