While I was organizing the house, I had this on in the background, which explained how to say "今天好熱/今天好冷" or "It's hot/cold today." It's funny, though, because I could actually read the characters. But, in a very stilted way. I read it as:

今 (Now)
天 (Heavens)
好 (Very)
熱 (Hot)
冷 (Cold)

Funny how much of my dabbling decades ago stuck with me. It's stull really bad, but has remained really bad without getting worse over the years. :)
