Stolen from Carrot.
Instructions:
1. Post 5 old artworks from 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.
2. Post your most controversial picture -- one you might have received hate mail for.
3. Post your favourite picture so far from 2005.
Bonus! 80s era art:

Try not to laugh too too hard, not only was this was one of my first real attempts at comic art, but I was 14. The date on it is November 13th and it seems to ahve taken me a whole WEEK to do this. There are LOTS of "Redraw" and "Redo" marks on this comic, but believe it or not, it got printed! It was in a fanzine, that got ONE COPY SOLD. And that one copy wasn't me. I'm really embarrassed when I see this now. ::laugh::
Bonus! 90s era art:

This was a silly little movie poster I made in 2001, but the art on on (minus color) dates back to 1997, when my therapist asked me to draw my characters for her. These two were the pics I drew from Closetspace. There's a LOT of change there now that I look at it. Carrie's eyes are HUGE, and I was really into hyper detailing (look at the fringes on that fest and the fuzziness on Allison's sweater. Silly trivia - a friend of mine really did wear Carrie's outfit.
2000:

My first real attempt at composited art with effects. Done prolly the summer of 2000, before AWFW when "The Book of Zand" was a comic I was the comic I was going to put on the web. In this shot, Zand (in green) is being haunted by a hallucination of his first love. The background was supposed to be within this super computer building thingy he lived in, and looks remarkably like a scanned in motherboard.
2001:

I'm pretty sure this was done in VERY late 2001, just after I started AWFW, mainly because it has the long-haired Michael, but it also has the glowing halo (originally, the halos were golden, until I learned the joys of Gaussian Blur). The hands on this one are terrible, but I LOVE the color work. I dont' get to work in color as much as I'd like. Look at the detail in that table cloth and Michael's sleeves. That's another thing I don't do anymore. :P
2002:

The angels in AWFW are based on the angels from Battlestar Galactica, and also Sharbat Gula, and this pic is based on her famous National Geographic one. I used her as a base for an early AWFW panel, and it came out so nicely that when Abaddon was introduced, I not only reused the panel with her in it, but made this wallpaper, which was my computer wallpaper for, gosh, three years. I love how Abaddon "glows" black.
2003:

This is prolly my favorite picture of Andrea, and it's the look she has on her face anytime she types " ^_^ " It just captures her essence so perfectly to me. She's honestly enjoying helping someone out who has fallen on hard times, but it isn't for any personal gain. She's just happy. I've used this pic and redressed it as Carrie several times - it's just one of those pics I love more than the rest. The background is Art's diner, aka Baby's at State College.
2004:

Ah, Trinoc. RECOGNITION AT LAST! This is prolly one of my fave pieces ever and I'm sad to say is going to be replaced for the 2006 convention as soon as I find the right design for it. I'm rather proud of it because of all my pieces, this is really the first where I've drawn people right next to each other that were in the same proportion, and size, instead of needing to be resized to make them look like they were in the same perspective plane. That and having Hanna glow BEHIND someone else were real victories for me. There's that fringe vest again. :) The original was colored in crayon (and was the last time I colored the halo gold) and given away to someone in a magazine contest...I never found out who or what became of the original.
Most Controversial:

People hated me for killing off Lise. I got more hate male and hisses from this than any other episode of anything I've done. My claim to fame is that my first ever letter from Erin Lindsey was hate mail over this episode. Ouch. She's gone, but definately not forgotten. And, well, if Lise never died, Andrea would never had dropped everything to become an angel.
2005:

Oh, man, I love this one. This actually has to do with a running gag I have with Venus Envy, where our comics have a gruff yet friendly rivalry (Any picture with Carrie and Zoe usually involved them playfully bitching at each other). I drew this just because I wanted to have a nice picture of "The Girls" actually doing something nice together for Trinoc 2005. I took my sweet time on this one and I'm really proud of the detailing in there, from the colors to the line art and even getting the Tai Chi poses down. It's reminiscent of a lot of my earlier comics, and shows what I can do when I take the time to do it. Plus it's just damned gorgeous.
One thing I'm noticing about my art, now that I see that meme...my stuff takes time. LOTS of time. I'm INCREDIBLY slow. I just realized I promised filler art for Cheer and for Misfile a month ago - and I've just never had the time to get to them. Even the comics we're seeing now take me two days to do, and they're not my best.
That's prolly why I'll never be professional. :P
