Canada's opening up the borders again, no PCR checks necessary. I was thinking of heading into the Lynden area this weekend as it is. Do I want to jump the border into Canada?
Not wanting to discourage you from visiting/staying...and still not thrilled that we're taking down the PCR checks and stuff on our side of the border.
To be honest, I'm super careful. Four vaccinations, always masked, lots of hand santizing, and weekly covid testing (unless I feel sick, and it's daily).
But I get the fear - my issue is that it's clear the governments have given up and this is the new normal. I'm in a super risky demographic, where if I get it, I'm not gonna have a good time.
But if this is the new normal, I have to learn to navigate it as best I can, and make sure (1) I bear the brunt of the risk and (2) I don't put the risk on other people. The best way I've done that is to stay home, "encapsulated" in my car or have a super tight people-bubble.
If the government isn't going to do more to knock Covid down, it's on me to be careful, because the governments have stopped trying. But I also can't just Stay Home Forever.
I've got a tonne of things I'd rather be doing instead of insulating myself from the worlds. However...
One of the things I'm using Twitter for is amplifying the voices of COVID Twitter people who know what they're talking about. Also, to a lesser extent than perhaps I ought, haranguing certain people who probably know better but are lying about COVID anyway for whatever reasons. The governments of our various countries ought to be getting back to Knocking COVID Down Into a Blast Furnace, and I'm not sure what else I can do to help make that happen.
