Oct. 20th, 2022 02:05 pmHELP ME TRANSGENDER INTERNET!
I'm looking for the title of a book I read in 1986 that had the very first trans story I read after realizing I was trans myself.
The book was a book of ghost stories, and I believe it was called "Ghost Stories of Hollywood" (although all the copies of that I've seen were first printed in 2000).
The story involved a family moving into a house where a ghost dwelled and began possessing the husband. The ghost's name was Jackie, and I believe she was a Vaudeville performer when she was alive. The story followed the usual trans-wish-fulfillment tropes (dressing in secret, or away from home) and even had some of the usual family dynamics where the wife threatens to leave if he doesn't stop. I don't remember how it ends off hand, but the ghost is driven away and life becomes normal for the husband and family.
Can anyone identify the book? It wasn't a trans book specifically, but a collection of ghost stories, printed before 1986, possibly with Hollywood in the title (I'm not 100% sure on that, as I may be remembering another book of ghost stories...I love ghost stories).
Also, given all the wish-fulfilment tropes in the book, I hope the author got whatever help they needed. ❤️
