Art is not happening today.

I drew this wonderful picture of Carrie in a Mrs. Claus outfit for this weekend, and the simplest part, the coloring, just isn't happening. :P

When I scan in art, I do it at ridiculously high resolutions. Each panel of the comic in its original form is 2048x2048 which if you have a 1024x768 monitor is Four Monitors Square (Math Disclaimer: Math is Hard). That's just for the comics. The icons I made, were originally 1024x1024 pixels that got shrunk down to 100x100. Doing wallpapers I go much higher. The AWFW book cover is 2580x3339 or 6 square monitors (or, if you're in Canada, .006 KiloMonitors square).

When you work at high levels, undoing stuff becomes a serious problem. And today I experienced that first hand. My Undo cache, because I work so high, is 1GB. And considering each Undo may eat up as much as 100MB, it's a good number to have.
When I start, I go from hard to easy, and I needed to add a "tights" effect. It's not hard to do, but eats up a lot of memory. Unfortunately, I screwed it up three steps into something else, so I hit undo...and while the commands for the Undo were there, it wouldn't go backwards any more. I had to throw the entire image out and start from scratch. This time I got pretty far but accidentally filled in the black line art flesh tone. This time it wouldn't allow me to undo it at all. Again, scrapped. The rhird time, I hardly got anywhere before it simply decided to not even let me click Undo. :P

I found out the culprit - The Backup I made a few days ago. It's sitting on my drive till I have the time to redo the entire backup so it can be burned to DVD. But it's left me with 700MB of freespace, whjich is 2 undos at the most. :P

It's late, and frankly, I'm too burned out from doing the same work three times, so I'll do it tomorrow.

Could be worse - I could be doing this on canvas and thrown out the canvas itself several times....

Actually, I don't. Normally I take my pencils, threshold them, and clean them up after all the coloring is done (I shrink it down to the final size which gets rid of the smallest dots, then clean up the major offending lines)
