Getting my Artistic Ass Kicked
Dec. 17th, 2005 10:26 amI've sprained my Artistic Nerve. It hurts! Over the last month, i've begged for money, and gotten a few comissions to come in. I'm down to one major comission, but about THIRTY smaller ones. On top of that I have two comics to draw, and thank you art for everyone in the DOR.
There have been three major (greater than $100) projects. I've managed to plough through 2.95 of them, and'll prolly finish #3 before the hour is out. To get these done, I'm literally waking up, rolling over to my desk, drawing, and rolling back to my bed to sleep.
I looked in the mirror today, and boy I didn't like what I saw. Wow, this comicking stuff is HARD work, but your body just sits in a chair for 16 hours a day. And I look horrible, No wonder my interview went so badly.
I need to get out more, move around, do something. Go on an all sand diet, something. how many calories in toilet paper?
I did finish the Carrie XMas image...and also took invisible_gurl's offer to color it as well. So we both worked on it at once.
Who did the better job? Decide for yourself:
MINE
INVISIBLE GURL'S
And it's okay to say hers is better, cause it kicked my ass. :)
I've been doing cel shaded comics for so long (since the 80s) that I have no idea how to do some of the really nice stuff with Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. I just select and bucket fill. I think onbce AWFW ends (In, I dunno, four years?) I'm gonna try a new style. Something less anime and more painted, like Mage was.
I got four years to practice....
And, as I have to be up in less that 24 hours to get moving to Houston, i've decided to simply not sleep today, and get some art work done. By tonight, I should be exhausted enough to fall asleep and wake up at 9AM for a shower, and a trip to Houston.
I'll be at Super Happy Funland at 2PM - minus the golden white pickups. The shindig ends at 6. I'm up for anything afterwards, folks. :)
Of course, now that I said that - I'm tired. But, anyways, JEEVES! ONWARD TO ADVENTURE!
