dolariToday I spoke as the keynote speaker for the Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil for City of Bellevue today. It was a bit overwhleming as I was not expecting to be the sole speaker at the event, but I did my best with what I had.
Since moving to Seattle, I haven't done much in the way of the TDOR, or even trans activism, as the Pacific Northwest has it's act together much better than Texas ever did. And I honestly didn't feel I deserved to speak as I haven't done anything in a long while.
But as a friend said, "it's not about being deserving - it's a duty."
And if asked, I'll speak again. Although I hope we never need another TDOR Vigil ever again.
