I don't like looking into mirrors. Never have. And so what I can to avoid them. I looked in one today, and while one of the faces looking back was finally barely palatable, two others now look back that I am desperate to get rid of.

Does the fight ever end?

I haven't had a mirror in my room for... a long time. There's one on the back of my closet door, and it has a curtain tacked over it. Since I don't do my makeup anymore, mirrors are only for checking on things like the weird stuff my eyes did in response to allergens. :-P I actually forget what I look like sometimes, and am a bit startled when I catch my reflection in something.

I don't think the fight ever ends. I think it's something we have to deal with throughout our lives. Although I'm not especially fond of mirrors, I don't try to ouright avoid them. I need to face that reflection everday, otherwise I'd make a monster out of it that's worse than the reality. I do not want to run away.

I often find myself staring at a mirror, trying to draw any kind of link between me and the face looking back.

There are beings who do not reflect in mirrors, and there are beings who reflect upon mirrors. I prefer to point a camera at mirrors and see what happens. Too bad gimp / photoshop doesn't work on bodies. Though wasn't there a Twilight Zone episode about everyone receiving the perfect body when they finished their teenage years? Ah, yes, "Number Twelve Looks Just Like You." Puts me in mind of THX-1138. And Pogo did say, "We has met the enemy, and it is us." Of course Pogo was furry, which would be a distinct advantage...

End? Hmn...

Over time, the mirror and I have had a chance to make up, even get comfortable with each other. This is not, however, to say that everything is good between us! I still look at it and find myself frustrated by my weight and such, or other things that, well, I wish were different. I guess I've just learned to live with it all, or to deal a bit better with the rough spots.

Cheers,
Gwen Smith

Yeah, I have days like that. Other muses sometimes taking hold and not letting go.

This comment will self destruct in 10 seconds. >_>

I don't much care for mirrors either.
although the post confuses me..
obviously the two others are something psychological because if I ever saw two other ppl in a mirror that weren't standing beside me I would have my entire house wired with video cameras.
