Yes, i've been in a foul mood lately. But this is a matter of getting The Things That Piss Me Off Out Of My Life. I refuse to turn into a nasty bitter person, and the things that make me angry have GOT to go.

Yay! Wikipedia loses another editor.

Due to continued accusations of being a "Vanity editor" I'm no longer on Wikipedia.

The claims began when another user created entries for my comics on Wikipedia, then invited me to update them. Sticking to NPOV, I created full articles for them. While this is was a bad thing, I stuck to NPOV, and survived a VFD for them. Since then, I've only updated those pages when the information was factually wrong.

Another VFD came when another user created an article on me with minimal info. After seeing a note on its discussion page to not VFD it if I was to edit it, I again added info to it, sticking to NPOV. After creating the page, and copy editing it a few times, it was sent to VFD as vanity.

Finally, a note on "Notable Wikipedians" mentioned that I primarily edited my bio page, and my comics. That's if you ignore:

*Adding historical information to the Texas State Highway pages from the creation of of the highway Department (A hobby of mine)
*Various Texana edits (Mainly in Central Texas)
*Wrestling edits (Guilty pleasure)
*Video Game edits (Mostly Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter)
*MRE edits (which I rather enjoy)
*Star Trek edits (Movie preproduction, and a Trek pet research project, Star Trek: *Phase II all under an old IP address before I got an account)
*Robotech edits (My favorite cartoon in the 80s)

And bits of Trivia throughout the Wikipedia when I see something I can add to it. I've been around for a while, folks.

In Particular, I'd like to give a shout out to the Old San Antonio Road article I created, which has been a hobby-ist's research project for 20 years; and the Comico Comics article which was my favorite comic company in the 80s, which I desperately wanted to work for and watched closely from it's inception to its downfall.

The note was amended, but not to my satisfaction.

I do not plan to return - all it'll do is start up the Vanity stuff again, and that pisses me off, and you off. And I refuse to finish the Texas Highways stuff I started. There were only 27 highways when it first began, and I was a good way through most of them. Who knows, maybe someone else will finish them, but until then, enjoy what's there. Hope someone else has as much research material as I did.

Damn right, I'm bitter. You'd be too if your contributions boiled down to "She's had VFDs" and "she edits her own pages."

I wish Wikipedia good luck in its future. May it live in interesting times.

Wikipedia's been bugging me a bit recently too with all the crap about anonymous cowards can't create pages, can't modify "protected" pages, etc. I don't want an account and enjoy contributing anonymously - without that feature i don't really have much incentive to contribute at all :-(

When I was a kid, one of my biggest goals was to have an entry in the encyclopedia. Geeky, but true. To this day, I still haven't done anything to warrant an entry, even one at Wikipedia. Maybe I'm not one to talk, but how can you write entries about yourself? It seems like John Romero (from ID) has done that, and there's some kind of irrelevant information about his private life on there (or was when I read it). Even if an entry about you or your work is incomplete or inaccurate, it's probably best not to mess with anything more than birthdates.

Perhaps the problem could have been solved by including a link to your website and putting the plot summary/episode list/etc./ and all related trivial information there. It would only be one click away.

The issue is the fact that Wikipedia is so anal about everything that even correcting something that is factually wrong about yourself in an article is considered taboo, and every single twelve year old and anti-social emo-kid will freak out on you and try to have to burned at the stake, like you're the "Wiki Witch of the West" or something.

That's pretty much what happened. After being INVITED to write an article, I pretty much was labelled a narcissist, despite writing other articles. I finally just had enough of the hounding. :P
