I'm ploughing through the different techniques you've all given me about the Photoshop stuff. We'll see what happens tomorrow night when I need to get AWFW done.

I hope I wasn't too rude with my suggestions yesterday.

I think that you should actually be using Illustrator rather than Photoshop. PS is designed to work with and manipulate completed images whereas Illustrator is designed to build up images. Most graphics companies want skills in both of these adobe programs. My experience was that Illustrator alone was in more demand than PS alone.

I'd agree with that. Particularly if you can get ahold of the most recent version of Illustrator (CS2), because its LiveTrace and LivePaint features might be just the sort of thing you're looking for.

Being somewhat of a novice with photoshop, I still must add to what some others have said about LAYERS.. You can do all kinds of cool stuff with layers. Have layer for wod balloons, one layer for each block of text, a background layer of the sketch. several color layers, an overlay layer with the orginal line art, etc. Soon as I get my computer over at the new place, I plan to scan in some more art and play around with it.
