AWFW fnally dropped out of the top 100, 12 days into the month. Longest time it's stayed int he top 100! CS is still in the top 100, and faring pretty well. :D

Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind on TCM?! Followed by Laputa?! In Widescreen?! Wow...this is the kind of anime exposure I dreamed about in 1987....

Which is kinda wierd it's on Turner Classic Movies...these are the Disney dubs....

If you like AWFW, you should really watch Valley of the Wind, Kiki's Delivery Servince and Castle in the Sky. My art style may be Robotech, but the story is very Miyazaki-ish. And if you miss them, go rent them. Now. I'll wait.

They'll be on in subtitled form after the dubs air. Last week they showed Spirited Away and Mononoke. Porco Rosso, Tanuki War, Kiki, and Totoro will be playing the other Thursdays of the month.

Subtitled as well?!

Wow. Finally, a channel that respects how anime should be shown! :D

Wow!

I can hardly believe it - Netflix has all three!

I suggest the following viewing order:

1) Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
2) Kiki's Delivery Service
3) Castle in the Sky

I also suggest Spirited Away, although that one, to me, is a lot less coherent to me than most of his movies.

Oh, and make sure it's "Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind" and not "Warriors of the Wind" which was a hack job done in the 80s.

Why, oh why does no one ever show Panda Kopanda?!

((much wailing and gnashing of teeth))

Wow, an anime I've never heard of before! What was it about?

Not just an anime, a Miyazaki anime.

I've seen most of Castle in the Sky (albeit most of it in a multigenerational triage-hit (cutting out sections demolished by dropouts and worse in previous VHS generations) dub before it became popular -- my father had it playing when I was visiting once); does that count?

thanks to robby_bevard for the tidbit about the subs being on after the dubs :) *files that tidbit away* i've got a Studio Ghibli set, but only 1 of the movies actually offers the subtitled version (and that's Grave of the Fireflies, and i don't think i can ever watch that movie again, i must have cried about 4 times during it), though some of them offer subtitled japanese (huh?)

at the moment, i think Castle in the Sky is my favorite, though i want to see Nausicaa ~desperately~

They're both on DVD, and available from Netflix. VERY VERY VERY good movies, and two of my favorites.

Now if they'd just show a nicely dubbed version of Macross: Do You Remember Love?

I kinda miss the old style, too. I'm a HUGE fan of Macross, and I miss that art style. When people had chins and noses. :)

Although the new art styles aren't bad at all, it's just not the same.
