A cartoonists opinion on the Mohammed cartoon controversy:

Newspaper: Dudes. What were you thinking?!

Cartoonists: Dudes. What were you thinking?!

Protesters who are killing each other: Dudes. What were you thinking?!

I'm all for freedom of speech, but when your best friend tells you to piss in the Hulk's wheaties you best watch out. :)

It's funny that the newspaper printed them.
It's ironic that *some* of the pissed-off muslims are using violent protest in reaction to cartoons depicting the Prophet(PBUH) as a terrorist.
It's the BEST that some people are claiming that the whole thing was a plan by the Zionist Shadow Government(tm) to create more strife in the middle east.

While I get your point, I don't really agree. Newspapers all over the world run editorial cartoons like that all the time. You don't see any other group killing people over anti-US or anti-Catholic or anti-(INSERT YOUR RELIGION OR GROUP HERE) cartoons! As a journalism major, I would not have expected this sort of reaction. Protest, yes. Out and out violence, no.

My deal was that they knew what they were getting into. The drawings were part of an article about breaking taboos, and radical muslims are more than a little nuts. They have every right to run those cartoons, sure. But they should have known the insane response they'd get.
