Bush's popularity levels at record low.
Bush's gas gas refund fails.
Bush's gay marriage amendment fails.

And suddenly America's Second Most Wanted Al-zarqawi is dead?

I know it's probably just a coincidence...but for a few minutes there....

...and very many few minutes....

I had the same thought. THen I thought, how is that possible - al Zaraqawi couldn't be cooperating with GWB.

My first thought with this was: haven't we killed al-Zarqawi several times already? But I have little doubt that there is a strong connection (even if it's "okay, we're doing this NOW") with Bush's poll numbers. And we'll be seeing those numbers shooting up now.

I find myself wishing some other country caught this guy. I dont need to hear dozens of Bush yesmen saying how great were doing over there.

Well yeah... Bin Laden is living in comfort on a sound stage similar to one of the old Star Trek sets in the White House basement. About a week before the 2008 election he's going to be caught in order to boost up whoever the republican canidate is at the time. Just wait and see.

Yes, it does all sound rather convenient. As does the price of Oil dropping below $70 per barrel in the aftermath during the day.

That won't make any difference to the numbers on the bowsers at my local fuel station, though. ;)

I must confess that I don't care who gets the credit as long as the monster is really dead this time.

I should also confess that I have a personal motivation in the matter and may not be entirely objective about it.

My immediate thought was, How do we really know? Do we trust reports that come from the government in this day and age? Isn't this all yet another ruse to distract us from the latest round of atrocities in Iraq? And besides, for every al-Zarqawi killed, another ten will take his place ...
