Tuesday I saw Superman Returns. I'm not a big fan of the SuperGuy in comics, but I do love the first two movies VERY VERY VERY much, and I was glad to hear that this movie was sort of a sequel to those movies (The Superman III that should have been).
I really enjoyed it a lot, including some of the smaller references to the old movies (the whole opening credits sequence, the line to Lex about "You seem like you've been here before" and the Addis Ababa kryptonite, among others. I also loved how this movie's lex was just as crazy as Gene Hackman's, but with a harder edge. And I now really hate the criticism that "a real estate scheme wasn't good enough jeopardy for this film." If you want Superman I and II, you'll notice that Lex was very vocal about all his plans revolving around real estate (In Superman I he wanted to crack off California to make his land purchases beach front property and in Superman II he wanted several islands (and Australia) for it's beach front property).
In all, I loved it, and it "felt" right. I hope any sequels to this movie fare better than the sequels to the original movies.
