Aug. 3rd, 2006 04:40 pmPreliminary budget for the first paycheck. I estimated my cash low, and my payouts high.
$1000 starting cash:
$525 - RENT
$150 - RADIO (optional)
$100 - CLOTHES
$40 - SHOES
$80 - GAS
$105 spending money.
I'd like to get a cell phone as my primary phone, particularly a Sidekick 3 (I have some friends who are sold on it), but that's $300. I'd also like to get glasses, but for that I'd need an exam and new frames which'll be a prtty penny. I may wait until my third paycheck (a non rent paycheck) to get those. Hope these'll hold out till then.
However, if my paycheck is bigger than I estimated (and it prolly will be) I'll skip the radio and go for the glasses, or the phone, whichever I can afford. I can even step back on gas, too, if I need to seeing as I'll be biking into work.
Two weeks to my first paycheck! :)

Date: 2006-08-03 06:33 pm (UTC)Do phone. Unless the glasses are just falling apart.
Contacts, if you can wear them, can be a bit cheaper than glasses, too...with exam, it only cost me about $100. And, that includes the glasses prescription for later.
Just my two cents.

Date: 2006-08-03 10:01 pm (UTC)I got my glasses for about $125, frame and lenses inclusive. I did, however, get the superduper cheapass lenses that glare from all angles. It could be an option to start with that and upgrade the lenses over time, though.

Phone first, though. I need a landline of somekind. I just hope the glasses'll hold on an extra two weeks.
