"Mom...I keep trying to tell you, the air conditioner vent in my room isn't working! It's too too hot in there! My thermometer says it's 95!"
"Your computer is making it too hot."
"When I get my own place, it'll always be cold...."

1995: My sister inherits my room, complains ONCE and gets a window AC unit

Summer 1995
"I really need this air conditioner fixed in my pickup."
"I can't do that right now, [oldname], it's too much to fix."
"When I get my own place, it'll always be cold...."

Summer 1997
"Wow, I can finally get my AC fixed in my pickup!"
::alternator dies::
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Summer 2001
"The AC just went out? IN JULY?! FOR THE WHOLE COMPLEX?"
"We can't get anyone out for three days."
"When I get my own place, it'll always be cold...."

Summer 2003
"Wow, I can finally get my AC fixed in my pickup, Mr. Mechanic."
"This truck is ready for the scrap heap. Spend the money on getting all these other things we found wrong fixed."
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Early Summer 2006
"The AC is really struggling to just stay at 80!"
"The house is too big for the AC to handle it."
"When I get my own place, it'll always be cold...."

Late Summer 2005
"Finally, my own place...."

And now the conclusion.

"Ah, two weeks of my own place. I can leave the AC at 72, and finally, not be hot. Although...it's really feeling kind of warm in here right now...82 DEGREES?! There's no air coming out of the vent! What the hell? I'll just look at the AC vent, maybe the filters clogged. No, that's not it. The AC motor is running fine...two copper pipes...I wonder why one is insulated and the other isn't? And why is it so cold?

"That's not insulation...it's ICE! AND IT'S EVERYWHERE!"

My house hit 88 before the ice all melted and the pipes unfroze. And the AC is now at 75...still cool, but not cold. Ah, well, 75 is better than 88.

I feel your pain. Normally my work is a pleasent 72. (and I joyously laugh at customer laments that it's too cold), but our AC is on the fritz and it's been about 80. Arrrg.

It might be a good thing it's so hot where you are. If an AC froze like yours did here, the compressor might have blown before you noticed.
