I've blown yet another deadline when it comes to comics. So now I'm giving you, the readers at home, a choice. Should I:

1) Continue the series as is - MWF schedule, alternating between comics, and suffer the occasional burp due to work related issues?

or

2) Go back to doing to two six panel comics every weekend with a lower chance of blown deadlines?

Whatever is less stressful for you.

Actually, I'm not stressing. To me, I can do a MWF schedule just fine when work doesn't get in the way. When it does, though, I can't make that commitment for that day. The weekly schedule can be done too, with less problems from work.

The stress comes from losing readers on the weekly schedule, or losing readers when I have to skip a day on the MWF schedule. Which is why I'm posing it to the readers. If they want a weekly schedule, great - it's what THEY want. If they want MWF and don't mind the burp, great, it's what THEY want.

If the readers decide the schedule, the stress of losing readers on skipped days/weekly schedule goes way way way down.

Which is easier for you to manage? I think that's the major criterion.

I have to agree. If you stress to much when you blow a deadline, then change the schedule to something that you know you can keep. Don't worry about the readers, just look after yourself. Look at Erin Lindsey or Dan Shive. They often miss deadlines or toss up fillers when ral life interferes with their comic schedule. Your fans will understand either way.

Speaking as a reader, I enjoyed both the 'bigger comic' era and the 'more frequent' era - so, really, whatever suits you. You could even mix and match, really.

I can do either, I'm more interested in what the READERS want. They're the audience. :)

Go back to the two per week, and change the days to fit your "weekend" if need be.

And: I am very grateful that Preparation H does not use the same slogan format as Head On. O_o

That's two votes for weekly, zewo for three times a week. But then the tagboard where the votes are supposed to be have been down for a week.

Before it went on its recent indefinite hiatus, Casey & Andy frequently had filler illustrations when the Casey didn't have time to finish a comic.

If you want to continue your current schedule you could probably fill it out with filler strips when you can't deliver. It may be better to try to maintain the current schedule if for not other reason than you still have a bit of ground to cover in your stories -- but as you pointed out, there is a danger in having no update at all.
