The Jenn Dolari, Closetspace and A Wish for Wings articles on Wikipedia are gone. The Webcomics Project was kept. EXCELLENT.

I was really worried that in the backlash of trying to get the first three articles deleted that the the last one would, too. I'm very very very glad it survived, because, strange as it sounds, there WAS a reason for my madness, other than a general dislike of Wikipedia's clique-i-ness.

I wrote those three articles. The AWFW and CS ones were done on invitation. The Jenn Dolari one was done only after a note was left not to delete the article if I contributed to it (as made by a Wikiproject's Head Dude).

"Writing about yourself on Wikipedia is a Bad Thing," they say. I don't believe that. There's a difference between:

"Born in San Antonio, Texas in 1974, Dolari has been drawing comics as a hobby since the mid-80s. After a short stint working for Antarctic Press comic shop, she left the comics business, focusing more on getting a job in a technical field. She continued doing small work for support group newsletters and for friends all through the 90s, as well as becoming a well known figure in Mortal Kombat Usenet groups."

and

"Jenn Dolari is the hottest thing on the planet right now, read her awesomely awesome comics that will knock your sox off. Episode 128 is guaranteed to give you an orgasm. And she can kill you with her JumpKick-Toes of Steel-Leg sweep Kombo!"

Keep to simply stating facts, and be objective, and you're golden. Unfortunately, no one could get over "OMG SHE WROTE IT HERSELF!" which is what made me leave Wikipedia in the first place (please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jenn_Dolari for more info on that debacle).

Anyways, I'm digressing.

The idea here is those Jenn-Written articles are now gone. Kaput. Whoever decides to recreate those articles (and because Wikipedia is a stickler for these things: I AM NOT ASKING YOU TO WRITE THOSE ARTICLES AND IN FACT WOULD RATHER YOU DIDN'T) it will have 100% less Jenn-Written text. If and when the articles go up, and get marked for deletion again (and it will happen as there's an anti-webcomic clique running rampant all over webcomics as we speak) they can't use the knee jerk "Jenn Wrote It" excuse to get it removed.

See? Toldja there was a reason.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to enjoy me some Victory Sleep. :)

And if I wrote that, they'd probably say "Not Notable, No Verification" and nasty things of that nature. Schoolyard bullies are schoolyard bullies, no matter where they are.

I was especially impressed by the context of Pi is not an integer therefore this article must be deleted and the actual discussion is ignored by the person calling delete because no one proved that Pi is an integer with no regard for the question of whether or not that detail is relevant to whether or not the article should be kept. The other webcomic articles I've tried to save have gotten much the same treatment. 8(

Sigh

...so it goes. Image

I'm glad the web comics project page stayed, but curious as to why. Been, um, ill the last few days (literally at a loss of words), so maybe I guess I'm not that curious to really want to know just now.

Thanks for the link. I didn't participate after all, but did put in my two cents on the blog. :)
