After reboot after reboot, the iMac died on me, too. It froze up, I powered it off, powered it back on heard a squealing noise, and the system shut off never to come back on again.

I wonder who I pissed off these last few days. Cause if I find him, I will destroy him utterly.

You know...

...I had similar problems a few years ago with an earlier version of my PC (always called "Plastic Friend") and I took it to a techie to be fixed. Know what he did? He used compressed air to blow all the dirt and dust out of it - cured the random booting and other problems I had with it for a fair while. Not saying it's the same thing, but you never know.

Why don't you RENT a PC for a short while until you get what you want?

Maybe you pissed of Steve Jobs :D.

I'm going to have to get a new computer when i move out.. mine is so old and fucked up it isn't worth trying to resurrect. As a technician I can tell you that somertimes dust is a problem, but often isn't unless its a whole damn lot where it causes things to overheat.
best thing is keep the case sealed, have a good fan, and get a hepa filter for the vent ports.

When I worked at Swan, people would take their computers out in the back to the machine that packed our computers with air packets, and use the nozzle to blow out the dust on their PCs.
