The cards really nailed it, I think. The star can't come soon enough....

1) Current situation - Page of Swords (aka Emily, I tend to take the "Face" cards as specific people)
2) Crossing Card - Knight of Cups - Romance arrives (But this interpretation makes more sense)
3) The Goal - Two of Cups - Togetherness
4) The Base of the Matter - The Fool - Thoughtlessness (The situation at hand was brought about by a stupid thing I did in 2001 that I'm still paying for)
5) The Past - Strength (Reversed) - Abuse of Power (I'm looking at you recent-events-at-job)
6) The Future - The Star - Bright Prospects (Gods, I hope so)
7) Self - The World (Reversed) - A discouragingly small advance (hell yeah)
8) Feelings - Three of Pentagrams (Reversed) - Sloppiness in workmanship (I hate my job, and I know I don't do it well)
9) Hopes or Fears - Three of Wands (Reversed) - Poor grasp of the future (see The Question)
10) The Final Outcome - Knight of Wands - A change of residence (hopefully closer to Emily)

This interpretation is slightly different, based on the Motherpeace spread (which is very similar to the Celtic Cross):

1. Where you're at - Page of Swords This is you, thinking on your feet and continually making decisions. This is both a blessing and curse.
2. Environment - Knight of Cups A young person arrives promising happiness - Emily.
3. Your Focus - Two of Cups Happiness via Companionship.
4. The Base of the Matter - The Fool You have to walk the walk and talk the talk. Of late you've come to self doubt, rather than trust in oneself.
5. The Recent Past - Strength (Reversed) Circumstances and events have drained your energies.
6. The Oncoming Future - The Star  A refocussing on one's goals and desires, on what one needs rather than wants.
7. Self Image - The World (Reversed) Self doubt. What "ought" to be clear and easy isn't.
8. Friends and Community - Three of Pentagrams (Reversed) A lack of assistance from those you expect it from. They all seem to be frittering away their resources.
9. Hopes or Fears - Three of Wands (Reversed) A fear of ineffectual efforts.
10. The Final Outcome - Knight of Wands Travel!

...advice from my "Karma Cards"

Mars in Virgo in the 7th House

Spiritual: Energize the serving of others diplomatically.

Mental: Confront the details of relationships.

Physical: Force yourself to do what you must do and get a fair deal.

How this works is this, usual one of the above will be spot on, and another might be an absolute clanger. In this case, I think it's the last, and it relates to your work environment. Actually, they're all about your work environment - you're in a service position, but you are continually being taken advantage of - getting a "fair deal" is important. Emily will be there for you when you are ready to go, but if you don't get a handle on work, it'll be so much harder to get to that point.

Sheesh - I haven't done a proper reading for some months, ever since 2nd Life Bookshop shut. I hope this helps.

::nods:: A lot of times, when the cards aren't all that clear, I'll throw a three card "explanation" to clear things up. Either it tells me "THIS IS WHAT IT MEAN, YOU BIG NINCOMPOOP!" or "Fine, you think this is arcane?! I'll show you arcane!"

Not long after I got the deck, a curious co-worker asked for a reading. She was young, and of the ilk who (a) things the cards are cool and mystical, and (b) wanted to know about her boyfriend, and how much he loved her, an aren't-we-gonna-have-a-wonderful-life-together sort of stuff.

The cards were pretty clear that she shoudl nto pin her hopes on this guy.

O)f course, that wasn't what she wanted to hear, so she asked for another, and another, and another. Ther cards, while not exactly the same ones (some duplicated, but not all), were consistent. Also, cards like the seven of cups started to come up, and others which could be read as very pointed commentaries about the seeker.

I stopped reading for her, and have only done personal readings since.

And yes, I've had similar situations as you, too. Though I tend towards the five card spread.

Thankfully - and I did worry about this - my readings with that deck have not been markedly affected by my friendship with the artist/creator. I had worried a bit about this, particularly given where readings could also involve her in the mix!
