Emm'a, Han'a and Nen'a. Heaven help them.

The first day was horrifyingly bad. While their interpersonal dynamics are just INCREDIBLY good (they all love each other like you couldn't believe), Nen'a was just too distant to the housewarming party, Han'a was pretty belligerent, and it was up to Emm'a to save the day, which even one little girl can't do it all.

That along side my newbishness with the game, having people run into each other, having sims who decide to eat on their own after I've told them to eat, so they eat twice, and the loving wives who can't sleep in the same bed because one blocks the other from getting in...well...I think we're going to be starting with a fresh new family in the morning. :D

I had that problem too with double beds, and it took me a while to figure it out. The solution seems to be having both sides of the bed accessable, which can make it difficult to place other stuff like dressers in the bedroom. Kind of an annoying quirk, to be sure.

As far as having them going off to do something on their own, if you right-click on the action, it'll X out and they'll stop. (Unless they're super desperate in which case it will pop up again quickly.) With preparing meals though, you have to cancel the action before they actually get to the fridge. If not, they'll take the food out but won't prepare it, which is kind of a waste.

For friendship and a more likeable sim, it's a good idea to work up their Charisma points by practicing speeches in a mirror. Alas, the housewarming party kind of lands on you before they get very far with that.

Oh! Also, having some form of group entertainment like a dartboard seems to help the housewarming party quite a bit. And if any of your sims are at all hungry during the party, have one serve lunch or dinner, and the guests will eat it too, which will cheer them up.
