And now there's ANOTHER route that's just popped up. Four routes, no decisions as of yet.
1) Straight to Seattle trip: San Marcos, San Antonio, El Paso, Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, Seattle - 2312 Miles
2) San Francisco Side Trip: San Marcos, San Antonio, El PAso, Tucson, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle - 2577 Miles
3) It's Aliens - I seen 'em! Trip: San Marcos, San Antonio, El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Area 51 Black Mailbox Side Trip, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle
and the new trip:
4) Pacific Coastline Trip: San Marcos, San Antonio, El PAso, Tucson, Phoenix, then Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle via US 101 - 2975 Miles
On the very odd chance that I hae a replacement pickup for the drive up there, I plan to drive my OLD pickup to Seattle with the new one in tow. If the old one breaks down, we switch out to the new one, with the old one in tow. That's a really remote possibility, but at least it's a plan.

Likewise, just sayin' (which is to say, don't be getting mesachie about it all).

Admittedly, I lacked my own vehicle or enough money for proper hotel rooms. The dorm-style hostel in NYC may be where I lost all my 360kB 5.25" floppies.
