I looked over the truck for damage from last nights collision. Sure enough, the passenger side's tire was flat. I keep a fullsized spare under the bed of the truck, so it's on now. After checking the bumper, the bumper has been pushed in a good deal. When I had my 1993 car accident, I slammed into a car at 40, and the bumper was pushed back just an inch or two. This, though, has been pushed in much much more. Three to four inches. There's a MASSIVE set of scratches going down the passenger's side door. Nothing else seems to be hurt badly, though.

I went back to find where I hit the deer and found the skid marks. I also found a great big beautiful (dead) buck sitting in the ditch, and a ditch marker bent over. Looked like I hit it, and he hit the marker. His eyes are wide open, and his neck is at an odd angle. At least I know now he prolly died quickly.

I'm glad I hit him on a county road. If I'd been going 70 down I-35, I doubt I would have gotten away as lucky as I did.

Those aren't scratches on the side. Those are... uh... RACING STRIPES! Yes, that's it. Racing stripes.

I know people who would have collected and dressed that deer if you had called right after the accident -- you could have had venison steaks!!

I didn't realize until a few days after that this is considered a kill in Texas. One hunting permit later, and it would have been mine. I'm ntoa fan of venison, but there's a guy here whose nuts for it. Should picked it up for him.

glad to hear you are okay. Deer can be a frightful thing especially at night.

I read that around this time of year is rutting season, so the bucks have only two things on their mind: does, and fighting other bucks for them. Everything else they're totally oblivious to.

It doesn't make it any easier though. :( ::hugs::
