For some people "money is happiness", or at least being comfortable.
To me I can't figure out why anyone would want to put themselves upside down to purchase something. To me, either it's buy it outright without any consideration of reselling it (eg a car that lasts 20 years) not speculate.
If happiness is more important than money, then people will make grave judgement errors in pursuit of happiness that have repercussions to take away that happiness later. (See all the foreclosure problems in the US.)
My attitude of "Money is more important than happiness" is because everytime I've chased happiness, I'm usually left broke and miserable for months or even years on end. When I'm making money, at least I can BUY small comforts.
Like right now: Do I come home to Texas, without any plans for money? Or do I stay in Seattle, where I cant stand being, but have money to live on?
It's a tough choice, and, frankly, money to survive and live on is more important than the destitute happiness of Texas.
